The process of developing Body-Mapping is as follows-
Firstly, we look at ourselves thoroughly in order to be able to learn about the way our body is mapped. This is done unconsciously. In addition to this, we also learn about our body through sensuous experiences, by looking at ourselves in the mirror, textbooks, diagrams, skelton models and from our teachers. This information is then gathered and compared and any problems are corrected, as we are able to pinpoint the source of any incorrected movements. Consequently, we are able to perform certain movements efficiently, gracefully, and for extendend periods of time. This is of great benefit to musicians.
The body map was discovered by Prof.William Conable. From his observation of a performing student, Prof.Conable concluded that the existence of something like a body map was probable.Pleferring to his observation, he said that the students movements are not real movements of the ''actual body structure''. He discovered that the student had misunderstood the structure of his body. He said that when you understand the actual structure of the body, the body's movements become rich, and then, it becomes suitable for music.
